Gwinnett will probably go after the ATL airport expansion that Chattanooga hopes for

According the Gwinnett Business Journal, in an article by Rebekah Wortman, Luster National Inc., a nationwide project management and consulting firm that recently completed the $5.8 million dollar fifth runway expansion at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is looking to expand it's involvement in Gwinnett County. Look for them to focus on Gwinnett-based solutions for ATL's landlocked, traffic-laden airport. Luster's Business Development Manager Thomas Rooks reports that Luster is looking to expand its Georgia involvement into Gwinnett, and and that "aviation is a niche for [Luster], as well as road and infrastructure issues." He goes on to mention that Luster also manages large school systems, but his leading point is telling, especially in light of Luster's just completed project, and Atlanta's well-known need to expand.

When speaking to the Market Center Council of that Chamber of Commerce last week, Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield reiterated his hopes that interest in Chattanooga expressed by Atlanta Mayor Shirley Jackson would result in either in increased airport traffic for Chattanooga or mag-lev train station at airport connecting CHA to ATL. Ms. Jackson had encouraged such hopes when she visited last spring. Luster's focus on Gwinnett is an important strategic development in whether Chattanooga's hopes materialize.
